NATO calls on Russia to withdraw troops from the borders of Ukraine

NATO calls on Russia to take an important step towards resolving the crisis around Ukraine and withdraw its troops from the Ukrainian borders. This opinion was expressed on Saturday by Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance Jens Stoltenberg at the Munich Security Conference,- mail.ru reports.

“We call on Russia to withdraw its forces from the borders of Ukraine. This should be an important first step towards a peaceful resolution [of the crisis],” he said.

The North Atlantic Alliance continues to propose to Russia a series of discussions in the NATO-Russia Council (NRC) on conventional and nuclear arms control, Stoltenberg said.

“I want to reiterate my call for Russia to hold a series of meetings to discuss risk reduction and conventional and nuclear arms control,” Stoltenberg said. He also urged Russia to "choose the path of diplomacy" on the crisis in Ukraine.
